Textile Plus Competition 2019 (EN)
This year we are launching the second edition of the Textile Plus Competition!
Enter the competition and have your work exhibited during the Textile Plus Festival, which will take place from 14 to 16 November 2019 in the Brabanthallen in Den Bosch, The Netherlands. The jury winner and public winner receive a publication in the TxP magazine and website!
This year’s theme is WITH HEART AND SOUL: GIVE YOUR PASSION COLOR!
Please note:
The registration is closed on October 1. It is no longer possible to register.
What do I have to do?
Choose a topic or theme that fills your heart: a person, an object, an issue, a fervent wish etc. Express your passion in one technique and material, or in a combination of textile or textile-related techniques and materials.
Be aware of your use of color. Do you like bright colors? Apply them. Do you like contrasting or harmonizing colors? Then use these colors. Experiment, combine and search for limits.
Give your work a catchy title and write a motivation. What drove you? What choices have you made and why? Also explain how you’ve applied the theme and your use of color.
If you work two-dimensionally, the maximum dimensions are 50 x 50 cm. If you work three-dimensionally, the maximum sizes are 30 x 30 x 30 cm.
What do I do next?
Take about 5 high-quality photos of your work, with the highest possible resolution. Make sure the exposure is good, preferably use daylight.
Is your work three-dimensional? Then photograph it from different sides. Also capture some striking details of the work with your camera.
Send these photos by WeTransfer before 1 October 2019 to Anouk Zoer (anouk@terwisse.nl). State your name and address clearly.
Please note: the jury will make a preselection based on the photos submitted, so ensure that the photos are of good quality.
Who are the jury members?
Just like last year, the jury consists of editorial members of the TxP magazine: Dorothé Swinkels and Herma Meere, and commissioner of temporary exhibitions at Museum de Kantfabriek: Tineke Geurts.
How does the jury work?
New this year is that the jury will make a preselection of 75 works that will be shown during the Textile Plus Festival. The preselection is based on the photos submitted, your motivation and explanation of theme and use of color. On Monday 14 October, the jury will announce which 75 works have been selected. These works still have a chance of winning a prize.
My work has been selected, how should I deliver and collect it?
You can only participate in the competition if the work is delivered and picked up at the Textile Plus Festival in Den Bosch, by yourself or by a person designated by you (excluding international entries).
The possibilities to bring the work are on Wednesday 13 November, from 12 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday 14 November from 7 to 9.30 a.m.
The award ceremony takes place at 2 p.m. on the same Thursday, so you can combine the delivery of your work with attending the award ceremony.
Collection of the work is only possible on Saturday 16 November from 5 till 8 p.m.

Help, I cannot deliver or collect my work myself!
In case there are special circumstances why the work cannot be delivered and picked up, please contact the organization (Anouk Zoer) via 06-28728677 or anouk@terwisse.nl to discuss the possibilities.
What can I win?
The jury winner and public winner will receive an inspiring book package, a bunch of flowers, and a publication about their winning work in the TxP magazine and website. The recipients of a possible honorable mention receive a bunch of flowers and a publication on the TxP website.
When will the winners be announced?
On the first day of the Textile Plus Festival, Thursday 14 November 2019 at 2 p.m. the jury winner of the Textile Plus Competition will be announced as well as any honorable mentions.
After the festival, when the public has been able to vote for three full days, the public winner will be announced on the website of TxP on Sunday 17 November 2019 at 2 p.m.
What does it cost?
The fee for participating in the competition is € 20.00 for TxP members and € 25.00 for non-members (excl. 21% VAT). Entry to the Textile Plus Festival is free for all contestants, so you don’t have to purchase a passe-partout for € 17.00.
